Edward Hopper Show at the National

And in other "cultural" news, I played a bit of a truant Friday and sneaked off to the National Gallery to blitz the Edward Hopper show after doing a gopher run to the Hill.

It is lovely and here through January, so check it out. Just try to hit it at a time when it's not full of busloads of people with loud-talking, over-analyzing guides. I identify him so much with works like Nighthawks and other large oils of public spaces. I wasn't really anticipating all the watercolors of New England landscapes and houses. They were a treat and his perspective is really quite striking up close.
