It was $4 off with a bonus card at Giant this weekend bringing it to a whopping grand total of $18 and change. It's very smooth - perhaps even mild for a Cab. - but with all the earthy blackberry flavor you'd hope for. These boxed babies supposedly keep for 4 weeks (not that a box would last me that long), so I'll see if it keeps the same crisp taste. Of course Cesar came in the kitchen just as I was popping out the spout and shook his head at me and asked if I was now a homeless person resorting to the box. If he ever catches me twisting the cap off a 4o he can ask me that question again. But admittedly, it does take me back to the days when there was a box of Franzia in mom's fridge!Monday, July 9, 2007
Wino
Jean and I shared an Email exchange not long ago about boxed wine. We both agreed that $20 give or take a few bucks for the equivalent of 4 bottles sounded like a great cost containment measure, but that one wouldn't want to end up with 3 liters of something rot gut. She seemed to be a little more serious about her research at the time, but I can now vouch for this brand - at least for the Cab.:

I am still having probs finding boxed wines (the supposedly good ones) in NJ. I'm still curious about the Target wine cube, since my friends say it's not bad.
