Ready for Wicked?

Leila and I had our first musical theater adventure last Sunday. We invited Emily and Henry to join us for "Busy Town", based on the Richard Scarry books I still love as a 34 year old, at Imagination Stage in Bethesda. The outing was more of a success than I imagined it could be. Leila sat silent perched at the edge of her seat and turned back to smile at me periodically. I think Emily and I were just amused by how over the top prissy/whiny the actor playing Huckle cat was and we exchanged many eyerolls throughout. But for a kids' production, it was fun. I'd much rather go to shows like this that draw on the imagination and classic books than something like Doodlebops Live....

You want to know why I don't have time to blog much anymore? I do nutty things like schedule myself for 2 doctors appointments and a flu shot on the Columbus Day holiday. Plus there's that hour + of daily exercise I have to squeeze in at either 5a.m. or 9p.m. to demonstrate my commitment to Cesar's crazy P90X fitness program. I think I'm now 21 days into my 90, but could be off a day or two either way. Anyway... this is not in the least bit interesting reading, but I'm still here and will one day get back on track!

Out of the mouths of babes...

As I'm getting my act together to get Leila in bed at the start of the VP debate last night, she says:

"I like the way Sarah Palin (which comes out Pay-yin, b/c her 'l's, particularly double 'll's often come out 'y's) talks."

Me (incredulously): "REALLY?!"

3 year old Leila: "Yes, she sounds silly."

Me: "BWAH HAH HA... indeed she does sweetie, indeed she does..."

Pics from Selma

Yes, I smirk, but for some reason I like that picture of me...Selma can be my official photographer from now on ; )

The little boo boo fiancees are too cute holding hands in Georgetown Park.

I imagine future teenage pictures of the girl will look a little like this...
